First Call for the 16th ICAZ Worked Bone Research Group Meeting
Dear Colleagues,
The 16th Meeting of the Worked Bone Research Group (WBRG) of the International Council for Archaeozoology (ICAZ) will be hosted by Osmaniye Korkut Ata University in Osmaniye, Türkiye, from Monday, 23 November to Saturday, 28 November 2026.
The conference will focus on technological, typological, experimental, taphonomic, and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of worked bone and other osseous materials. In this context, submissions addressing current research on bone working and related material culture, as well as presentations in archaeozoological research linked to these themes, are invited. The preliminary programme will include four to five days of oral and poster presentations, followed by a one-day excursion to Göbeklitepe, with a visit to the Şanlıurfa Archaeological Museum if time permits.
Participation Confirmation and Abstract Submission
Participants are kindly requested to inform us by 29 June 2026 whether they intend to attend the symposium in person or online, and to provide a tentative title for their paper. Abstracts should be submitted by 1 October 2026 as an email attachment to wbrg2026@korkutata.edu.tr
Abstracts must be written in English and should not exceed 300 words. Each abstract should include the title of the paper, the author(s)’ names and affiliations, and up to five keywords.
Registration
The registration fee is set at 150 EUR for in-person participants and 30 EUR for online participants. The in-person fee covers conference participation, conference materials, the conference dinner, and the excursion, while the online fee includes access to the conference sessions and digital materials. Further information regarding the registration form, payment procedures, and deadlines will be provided in the second circular in June 2026.
